1. What is a Prosperous House?

The concept of a house is simple: a door, four walls, a roof, and some windows. That’s a house. But how do we make this house prosperous?

There are three essential conditions:

1. Auspicious Stars (Heavenly Energy)

This refers to having the current prosperous star flying towards the main entrance. When the timely auspicious star arrives at the front door, it brings strong, positive magnetic energy.

2. Strong Human Energy (People’s Energy)

Human energy does not simply mean having many people in the house. It refers to the inner drive, ambition, and fighting spirit radiating from the occupants.

3. Active Earth Energy (Earth's Movement)

Earth energy refers to dragon energy. When the dragon’s head is active, the land carries the most vibrant and powerful energy.

In Feng Shui, a prosperous house is the combination of favorable timing, auspicious location, and harmonious people. In other words, it is when a group of motivated people live on energetically rich land along a dragon vein, absorbing positive cosmic energy.

2. What is a Wealth Position?

There’s an old saying in Feng Shui: "The earth can produce jade, and the land can yield gold. The five directions, five earth dragon gods, and the local wealth deities." From this, we associate the position of the local earth deity with the wealth position.

Many Feng Shui beginners misunderstand this. In fact, in classical Yang House Feng Shui, there is no strict concept of a "wealth position." This idea was popularized because people strongly desire wealth. Feng Shui masters later adapted the "sheng qi" (life energy) position from the Eight Mansion School and presented it as the "wealth position" to meet people’s financial aspirations and to provide a symbolic answer in metaphysics.

The correct understanding:

The wealth position is a place that can stimulate our financial ambition and drive. By placing Feng Shui items and using proper layouts, we can enhance our energy and spirit toward wealth creation.

3. How to Find the Wealth Position?

Different Feng Shui schools have their own methods for finding the wealth position. The most commonly used methods today include:

Xuan Kong Flying Star Method

Purple-White Flying Star Method

Using the annual flying star chart:

  • The positions where stars 1, 6, and 8 fly are considered prosperous areas.

  • The 8 White Star is the most prosperous star for wealth in the current period.

  • For example:
In this year, the 8 White Star is in the center, while 1 and 6 White Stars are in the West and East.
Next year, the 7 Red Star will enter the center, and the 1, 6, and 8 stars will shift to the Northeast, Southeast, and Northwest respectively.

The advantage of the annual wealth position: It brings quick wealth.
The disadvantage: The effect is not long-lasting.

4. Feng Shui Tips for Home Layout

Spacious Living Room

In Feng Shui, the size of the living room is directly related to wealth capacity. The more spacious the living room, the more wealth energy it can contain.

However, if the space is cluttered and disorganized, wealth energy cannot gather.
Also, avoid placing sharp objects like scissors or knives in the living room, as they can create harmful energy, cause family conflicts, and affect health.

Open and Clean Balcony

The balcony is the main channel where the house exchanges energy with the outside world. It should never be cluttered or dusty, as this will block positive energy from entering.

The balcony should never be used for storage because this will block natural light and reduce positive energy, leading to poor family luck and career stagnation.

Solid Backing

Sofas, desks, and beds should always have solid walls behind them. This symbolizes strong support and stability.

If the back is facing windows, doors, or hallways, it’s called "leaking wealth formation" in Feng Shui, which can lead to financial instability.

From a psychological perspective, lacking a solid backing can create a sense of insecurity, causing emotional instability.

Simple and Tidy Bedroom

The bedroom is where people rest and recharge. If the bed or the space underneath is messy, it can harm the occupant's fortune and financial energy.

Especially, the White Tiger side of the bed must be kept clean, or it may lead to poor sleep, low energy, and increased conflicts.

A clean and simple bedroom encourages stable, continuous wealth.

Auspicious Wealth Corner

The bright wealth corner is usually located diagonally across from the entrance door. This is a key area for family wealth.

It should be well-lit, unobstructed, and can be enhanced with wealth-attracting items like Pixiu figurines, money trees, or other Feng Shui symbols.

Bright and Neat Study Room

The study room can promote academic and career success.

It should always be clean and organized to maintain concentration. The desk should preferably have a solid backing to attract helpful people in your career.

The room should also be well-lit to ensure a bright future and prosperous financial opportunities.

Clean and Uncluttered Kitchen

The kitchen represents the wealth storage in the home. It should be kept clean and free of excessive appliances.

A cluttered kitchen may suppress health and financial luck. A clean, well-arranged kitchen supports the health and prosperity of the whole family.

5. What Should Be Avoided in Yang House Feng Shui?

Feng Shui emphasizes "hiding wind and gathering Qi" and prefers flowing energy rather than direct rushing airflow.

If your home has doors directly facing each other (such as front and back doors or windows), it creates what is called the "Piercing Hall Wind" — one of the most harmful Feng Shui formations.

What is Piercing Hall Wind?

This happens when the front door directly faces a window, balcony, or back door. When standing outside the entrance, you can immediately see through to the opposite side.

This creates a situation where wealth energy enters the home but immediately flows out — symbolizing losing wealth as quickly as you gain it.

Common Types of Piercing Hall Wind:

  • Doors facing windows directly, especially large sliding doors

  • Front door aligned with the back door or balcony

  • Bedroom doors directly facing each other, especially when windows also align

  • Three doors aligned in a straight line, which is highly inauspicious

Practical Problems:

  • Lack of privacy if the front door faces a bedroom, bathroom, or balcony

  • Unstable indoor airflow, causing uncomfortable drafts

  • Loud door-slamming noises due to strong air currents, affecting peace and health

Modern Solutions:

  • If space allows, place a partition, screen, or cabinet near the entrance to block the direct airflow.

  • In smaller spaces, use curtains, beaded drapes, plants, or decorative screens to soften the energy flow.

  • In long hallways, hang sheer curtains to prevent direct energy flow.

Feng Shui traditionally teaches that "straight paths harm people." Energy should ideally meander and circulate gently within the home. By adding soft partitions, the energy can settle and gather rather than rush straight through, helping to transform bad luck into good fortune.
